Karen Stark received the human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine on February 14, 2011. She alleged that this vaccination caused her to suffer syncope, which resulted in severe head trauma, a right subdural hematoma, a non-depressed skull fracture, seizure disorder, and post-traumatic cognitive and physical impairments, including headaches, fatigue, and dizziness.

She further claimed these residual effects lasted for more than six months. The respondent denied that the HPV vaccine caused or aggravated her alleged injuries.

The parties reached a settlement agreement to resolve the matter. The court adopted the stipulation and awarded Karen Stark $175,000.00 in compensation for all damages.
