Lynn Louise Torreso, Personal Representative of the Estate of Kent Torreso, deceased v. HHS - Influenza, Guillain-Barre Syndrome (GBS) (2025)

On June 12, 2024, Lynn Louise Torreso filed a petition as personal representative of the estate of her deceased husband, Kent Torreso. She alleged that an influenza vaccination administered on October 19, 2022 caused Guillain-Barre syndrome and that the vaccine-related GBS resulted in Mr.

Torreso's death on January 10, 2023. Respondent conceded entitlement, agreeing that the case met the Vaccine Injury Table criteria for flu-GBS and that Mr.

Torreso's death was vaccine-related. The public entitlement ruling does not describe the first neurologic symptoms, hospitalization, treatment, or the circumstances of death.

Chief Special Master Corcoran granted entitlement on November 12, 2025. Damages were resolved by proffer.

On December 18, 2025, the Chief Special Master awarded $450,000.00 as a lump sum through counsel, consisting of the $250,000.00 statutory death benefit and $200,000.00 for pain and suffering.
