Jermaine Beale, a 40-year-old male, received an influenza vaccine on October 27, 2021. He initially alleged Guillain-Barre syndrome (GBS) but later revised his claim to chronic immune demyelinating polyneuropathy (CIDP).

The court found that the petitioner's symptoms, including foot pain and numbness, likely began in the spring of 2021, several months before his vaccination, and were exacerbated by the time of vaccination. Medical records indicated complaints of foot pain, "pins and needles" sensations in his feet and legs, and a "walking on marshmallows" sensation prior to the vaccination.

Despite expert testimony from both sides regarding the diagnosis of CIDP and its potential link to vaccines, the court determined that the evidence preponderated in favor of a pre-vaccination onset of symptoms.
