Loan Nguyen v. HHS - Influenza, GBS (2024)

Loan Nguyen filed a petition on August 13, 2019, alleging that the influenza vaccine she received on September 25, 2016, caused her to suffer from Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS), a condition listed on the Vaccine Injury Table. She further alleged that she experienced residual effects from this condition for more than six months.

Respondent denied that petitioner sustained a GBS Table injury or that the flu vaccine caused her alleged GBS or any other injury. Despite these denials, the parties reached a joint stipulation for compensation.

The stipulation awarded Loan Nguyen a lump sum of $204,020.13, which covered first-year life care expenses and combined pain and suffering, along with past unreimbursable expenses. An additional amount was awarded to purchase an annuity contract.
