S.C. v. HHS - Tdap, seizures (2023)

Rebecca and Grant Crane, as parents and natural guardians of their minor child S.C., filed a petition for compensation on December 14, 2017. They alleged that the diphtheria-tetanus-acellular pertussis, hepatitis B, polio, and pneumococcal vaccines administered on January 5, 2023, caused S.C. to develop seizures.

The respondent, the Secretary of Health and Human Services, denied that the vaccines caused S.C.'s seizures. Despite the denial, the parties reached a joint stipulation for compensation, which Special Master Christian J.

Moran found reasonable and adopted as the Court's decision. The stipulation awarded an amount sufficient to purchase an annuity contract and a lump sum payment of $32,137.69 to satisfy a State of Arizona Medicaid lien.

This compensation covers all damages available under the National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program. The decision was issued on January 17, 2023.
