Mr. Cipa claimed that the vaccination caused Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS), chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (CIDP), and/or Bell’s Palsy. The respondent, the Secretary of Health and Human Services, denied that the alleged injuries were caused by the Tdap vaccination. Despite maintaining their respective positions on causation, the parties reached a stipulation to settle the case. The stipulation provided for a lump sum award of $325,000.00 to Mr. Cipa, representing all damages available under the program. The Special Master found the stipulation reasonable and adopted it as the decision of the Court, ordering judgment to be entered accordingly. The decision was filed on February 27, 2019.
