Yvonne Hooper v. HHS - Hepatitis B, hyperthyroidism due to Graves disease (2015)

Yvonne Hooper filed a petition on October 15, 2015, alleging that she suffered from hyperthyroidism due to Graves disease as a result of receiving a hepatitis B vaccine on February 17, March 17, and July 18, 2011. Although the respondent denied that the vaccine caused her condition, the parties filed a stipulation on April 29, 2015, agreeing that a decision should be entered awarding compensation to Ms.

Hooper. A decision was issued that same day, awarding her a lump sum of $50,000.00.

Subsequently, Ms. Hooper filed a motion for attorneys' fees and costs totaling $28,862.08.

The respondent deferred to the special master's discretion regarding the fee award. The Special Master granted the request, awarding $28,738.56 jointly to Ms.

Hooper and her attorneys, and $123.52 directly to Ms. Hooper.
